eMac does not sleep on its own

Hi, I have been having an issue with my emac for the past couple of months. I have the energy saver preferences set for it to go to sleep after 15 minutes but it never does. This is a big issue because if I forget to put my mac to sleep and I go out for a couple of hours, it is just sitting there hogging electricity even though it is not being used.

I have read apple's support page about why your computer may not go to sleep and it lists all these reasons (ie. apps are running), but I have the same programs and processes running on another mac and it does not have any of these issues.

Thanks

Make sure your System Prefs/Energy Saver has the 'Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible' check box activated.

Go to System Prefs/Energy Saver/Options and make sure no wake options are checked.
