eMac seems to have a mind of it's own.

I have an eMac(700Mhz). With OSX 10.3? on it, it would shut itself down, beep numerous times and then start up in the single user mode saying something to the effect of, to continue to boot type boot-mac.

Since then, I have installed the ram from my slot loading imac into the eMac, which brought the eMac up to 640. Being as there is only 2 slots, I had to remove the 128 that was in the eMac to put in the 2 256's from the iMac. I also installed OSX 10.4. I did a clean install.

The problem I'm having is it boots up ok but randomly it shuts itself down and with numerous beeps it boots up in the single user mode. The date and time are way off. This computer is over three years old, probably closer to four. Is it possible the battery has gone weak?

Any suggestions?
