My daughter's eMac has gone pale. It has lost contrast over the entire screen. I have gone to the Display System Preferences panel, but even with the contrast slider all the way to one side, the contrast is still not sufficient to correctly calibrate the video. No area of the screen ever appears completely black. What should be pure black is grey with faint white lines in it.
Anyone else have a similar problem, or more importantly, a solution? The local Apple Store just says $350 for a new analog video system. (Out of warranty of course).
I have read about all the myriad problems with the eMac's video, but have not seen this exact problem mentioned.
Thanks for any help.
