Emergency

This morning I had the exact same problem.
gray screen, and the cd tray opened..
All i did was shutting down the Mac and tried it again.. It worked (you went off too fast on using utilities stuff like our nasty friend Norton.)

The only thing I can recall that I changed on my mac before this occured was that I activated the switching desktop pictures on my 3 screens set-up.. dunno if that could've cause this...

nah believe me i restarted it plenty at first. Diskwarrior, Techtool, and Norton all came up empty handed. The thing that pisses me off the most is that the monitor burnt out. that was a nice monitor! ah well, c'est la vie
