EMGERENCY! My pictures folder is goneee!

Just instanteously, i attempted to find some pictures in the pictures folder, but i couldnt open the pictures folder from the finder window's sidebar... and i realized that its gone from my home folder, and whats worse, i havent done anything with this computer at least for a week! so what should i do? is there any way to revive the files, as if they were deleted?

i don't seem to have my photo's in the sidebar either - try spotlighting the title of one of your photo's you know was in there, and it'll find them, at which point that is where the photo's are. also check to see if they are all still in iphoto

if not, then they are possibly gone. not sure how.

well, i checked iphoto and everything else before i created this thread, nothing. so what am i to do?
