Empty Documents folder

I started up my Intel imac running 10.5.1 and found all the contents of the Documents folder replaced with an empty folder titled 'Updater'. I am hoping that my folders and files are still on my hard drive and would appreciate any help in retrieving them.

Check the /Users directory for folders other than your own; have you changed the name of your home folder?
