Entering Dial up telephone numbers

Hi All, does anyone know how to make OSX pause for an outside line when dialing onto the internet from somewhere like a hotel room?

a comma in the phone number provides a pause
example - 9,16165551313
add more commas for a longer pause (9,,,16165551313)
add a comma to give space for an extension (9,,,16165551313,,,702)
