Entourage Corrupts Attachments

I'm having a problem with attaching files to outgoing email. It doesn't matter if the file is a jpg or a pdf, nor if it was created in Quark, Photoshop, or Illustrator. The recipients all receive either a blank file, or a notice that the attachment is corrupted and unreadable.

When attaching the files, I've been using the defaul setting for encoding, which is "Endoce for any computer (AppleDouble); no compression." I've been using that all along, and everything transmitted fine until a couple weeks ago. I've not been able to pinpoint anything that changed on my system to cause this issue - no recent updates, etc.

If I change the encoding to "Windows (MIME/Base 64)" I get a message that says the attachment "contains Macintosh specific information which will be lost if sent with the current encoding." Just for kicks, I sent a couple tests with this option; one worked, one did not.

Our company does use Exchange Server, but our network team is stymied, and it's just giving me fits.

Any thoughts gratefully appreciated!

... I've been using that all along, and everything transmitted fine until a couple weeks ago. ...
Like you until a couple of weeks ago, I use Entourage 2004 as my Exchange email client with narry a problem with attachments. I use Apple Double as my attachment encoding protocol.

You said it yourself "everything transmitted fine until a couple of weeks ago." Well, you are just going to have to find out what happened a couple of weeks ago. Before you go pulling out your hair, talk really nicely to your IT staff to ensure that they did not make a change to the system--any change! The most dangerous change might be the installation of a server-side virus filter.

Are you able to send a file compressed as a .zip file?
There is nothing special about a .zip file except that my firm's server-side antivirus utility would strip them from my emails. I haven't tried a .zip in a while. The AV software would also remove PDFs, but no longer. These are the specific reasons that I brought up the possibility that antivirus software is messing with you.

Yes, if I send anything as a zipped file, it goes thru fine.

Our network guys tell me that nothing has changed...so I'm at a loss.
