Entourage Rebuild for POP3 account

Hi,
I'm running a Macbook Pro OS 10.4.10 with Microsoft Office X.

Entourage is running a POP3 account and is corrupted. I'm wanting to rebuild the database but was unsure if there are any issues with rebuilding the database with a POP3 account opposed to IMAP account. I've rebuilt with IMAP before with no probs.

Have checked Mactopia and a few other sources but have been unable to find any info regarding this!

I don't use Entourage, so you'll have to forgive me if I'm completely off-track. POP3 and IMAP are ways of fetching email, and a database sounds like it would be doing something with the "fetched" emails. However, the "fetched" files will be the same no matter what protocol you are using, and therefore, you should have the same experience that you did last time.

Click on the app and hold the option key and MSFT's database rebuild options come up. Copy the database FIRST before you do this. The data stored on your computer is not dependent on your server, so it doesn't matter if the server is IMAP or POP -- you're dealing with your computer's db file.

Thanks for your response. Does this also apply if the POP account has the option "leave a message on the server" unticked - hence is downloaded it from the server to store locally on your machine?

Remember, this database rebuild is ONLY on your computer. You aren't touching the database that's on the server. If the one on the server is corrupt, this fix won't work.

Leaving messge on server means you don't delete it upon downloading it to your computer. That means you're saving all your messages in both places which actually is a good thing in case you can't recover your computer's email database with this fix.
