entourage, sendmail

Right now, I'm using sendmail and pine (and getmail for other accts). I'm wondering if I can view the mail I get on my desktop with Entourage.

setting the mail server to "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" didn't work...

anyone know how to do it?

Sendmail is only for sending mail out - not for checking it from a client. You could install a POP or IMAP server in your local computer - pine comes with an imap server, though I don't know how easy it is to set up, or what it offers. I installed qpopper a while ago to check local mail in Mail.app, that worked fine.

You might want to firewall off the pop/imap server from the outside world though, just in case it's not totally secure (and what is?)
