Epson Rx500 All-in-one And Os 10.4.2

I have been running OS 10.4.2 for several months, including using Epson Smart Panel with my RX 500 all-in-one. Now, suddenly Smart Panel has quit working. When I try to run it, I am requested to install the Twain driver.

A bit of research indicates this is a know problem. I need a known solution.

My problem is solved. Here is what I learned from Epson:

"The Stylus RX500 Photo is compatible with the Mac OS 10.4 Tiger. However,
the Epson Smart Panel is still currently not compatible with Mac OS 10.4
Tiger. Epson Smart Panel is a third party optional program (made by a
company called Newsoft Inc.) used to scan, but is not necessary. To use
your Epson RX500 Photo, please use the Epson Scan software to scan."

This proved to be true. However to completely remove all the Epson software was tedious, but Epson techs provided stepwise instructions to remove everything. Reinstallation of everything but SmartPanel then got me back in business. Everything now works, including the OCR functions, by invoking the various programs without using SmartPanel.

Mad man. I am current having scanner problems with my 3-1 epson stylus cx 4800. all is right except the scanner. I am running mac 10/3/9 without tiger,
but have photoimpression which should allow me to scan but give me
disc space errors. Even with 2 gig of space on the machine. do you think it would
be better to use photoshop, save as pdf and off load photoimpression.
Really disappointed, Watrey 321
