Err... PC to Mac - sorry

I apologise first, I know this subject is pretty much done in. However, I've searched through the forums for the last two hours and haven't found anything that helps...

I am attempting to connect a G4 450 DP running 10.1.3 to a HP VL420 PC running XP Professional - system name LAZZOPC; user name LAZZOPC\Dave Lazzerini.

So far I've had zero luck on this. I've tried various connections through "connect to server". Sharing and ftp access is turned on in the Mac and the PC reckons things are working, but who can tell with a PC?

After you've finished groaning:D , perhaps someone could give a specific tutorial to this idiot...

Try using samba in the connect to server window, in the address field type "smb://server_name/share_name" without quotes and replacing the names as suited to your XP Machine.:D Or find smb browse on http://www.versiontracker.com This is a gui so to speak of samba.

The connect to server line still doesn't work, but the SMB Browser software did first time. And the second time - after a Mac restart:rolleyes:

The next few days will tell if all remains well...
