Ethernet Modem Not Detected Under Leopard

It all started at 3......
Hey guys,

I recently upgrading my system from Tiger to Leopard (OS 10.5.8). I am using a Mac PPC G5 Dual Processor (not intel). The problem I have is that my machine is no longer detecting my ethernet modem. It simply says that I have not got it plugged in. To test it to see if I have a problem with the modem I installed Tiger again on a different start up drive. No problem. The modem is detected on Tiger and the internet runs fine.

Am I missing something here? Do I need to have something extra installed for Leopard to detect my modem?

Thank you in advance...

Ian

When you say "ethernet modem," are you referring to some kind of modem (DSL, cable, etc.) connected to your ethernet port, or are you referring to the ethernet port itself?

It you have a cable modem, then you really should use a router even if you have only one Internet-connected device. If you swap your modem among various devices, then you should powered it down immediately before each switch. Keep power down for 30 seconds prior to repowering it.
