Ethernet Print Server

I just found a box that contained, among other things, a "PROTEC PSM-2E" Ethernet Print Server Module. It appears to power up and go through it's self-test. I've tried to find documentation online for this, but the Protec website has been suspended.

I'm hoping someout can help me out. I'd like to know if it's possible to use this on OSX (Panther.) I have a laser printer that's sitting idle and if I could make it available for use on my network, it would be great.

I attach the server to my hub and all the lights indicate it is connected and waiting. But I have no idea of how to identify it's address.

Thanks for any help!

Usually, print servers come configured to use 192.168.0.1, 192.168.0.100 or 10.0.0.1 as their default IP address. See if you can either telnet, ssh or FTP to the print server using one of those addresses.

Thanks for the tips, but I was unable to find the IP address using the usual IP addresses that you gave. However, I have been successful. I noticed that when I first connected the server and the self-test finished, there was activity between it and a Mac that is serving as a DHCP server and router (using IPNetRouter.) I looked up the DHCP log using IPNetRouter and lo-and-behold, the ethernet address of the server showed up and I then could see what IP was assigned by the DHCP server. So now I just need to find a missing cable and hopefully I'll be printing away soon.

Thanks.
