EV Nova for Windows in development.

Unofficial Mac Genius
I am SOOOOOOOOOO disappointed in Ambrosia Software.

VERY disappointed.

If you look on the upcoming products page, it lists EV Nova 1.0.1d1 for Windows.

This just marks a trend downward in a great shareware software maker. First they axed Ragnarok after the main programmer left, and made no attempt to finish it EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN THE BETA STAGES. EV Nova was overhyped in my opinion (you can only play one of the major threads with each pilot, and there are not nearly as many medium or minor threads as there were in EV Override or the original EV). And now they're starting to make products for Windows (yeah, I know there was Pillars of Garendall, but that's not the greatest game, either).

What happened, Ambrosia? You aren't making nearly as quality stuff before, and now you're focusing development on porting to Windows a game that has already been released! That's sad.

The almighty $.

I would imagine that they could lose mac users more quickly than they could make inroads onto win because of this.

I don't see a problem with it at all.

It would be a wonderful world if we could stand behind a product so blindly, and not worry about money.

Unfortunately that's how it works. I applaud their efforts. After all, it shows that Mac users aren't "bigots" against PC's and opens the doors to both sides. We need to stop huddling in the corner and start to show people what can be done from the Mac side. After all, so long as people go to the Ambrosia site all they'll see is Mac stuff. It'll get them wondering what it'll be like on a Mac.

As a side note three of my PC buds were asking where they could get a PC version of EV Nova. I told them they couldn't, and it was "Stupid Mac users. See, you segregate yourselves and then wonder why you don't sell more machines. Give us your developers and we'll give you ours." One of the kids was playing with my laptop and started to work on his Linux app. "This is what I'm talking about, seems Apple is finally wising up with their OS."

It may be a blow to our tight knit community, but I think it's high time we opened the doors to a different world. I've got four never before Mac users in the office. Two just bought new iMacs. Their reasons? 1, they can share files from friends to home whether it's a PC or Mac. 2, The number of apps that are free, or shareware that are coming out for the Mac are on par with the PC.

Just so long as Ambrosia doesn't go the way of Bungie I say go for it.
