ah, and i just figured out your problem too. were you starting up from your computer's install DVD or a regular copy of Jaguar?
oh, and i thought corrupting panther would make it so that your system cannot see panther, so you can install jaguar.
For all these Panther related issues you can call Apple for free and have them debug the problem. There is a warranty on Panther and Apple will provide support for a while. I called about an installer issue and got right through.
You paid good money for this software so exersize your consumer rights.
If my car is not fixed after a new part is installed I don't call other car owners I go back to the shop that did the work.
