Yes, you can save it.

You might try looking into something like Bochs (I think that's how it's spelled). It's essentially a free version of Virtual PC

Yes on a G3 or G4 machine, but it is significantly slower than VPC 6. Given that VPC 6 is no speed demon that says a lot.

As a "poor student" you should be eligible for student discounts on VPC. I have no idea what Microsoft's discount is but Apple's is around 50%. That could make VPC 6 more of a possibility. Don't forget that you have to get a copy if Windows too.

You might want to look into www.iemulator.com - the price is right, $24. You still have to get Windows though. It just emulates the hardware.

It's based in part on the qemu sources ( http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/ ), but I think a more finished product.
