Explorer 5.5?

I cant even download a file by clicking on a link.... I have to use option, and the contextual menu.

anyone else notice this?

forgot to mention...

I hope Microsoft offers it on their web site for downloading.... they currently dont for the osX version of IE. Why I dont know... ?? ?

Although it's the most buggy browser, I still can't get away from using it as my main browser.

I'm waiting for Chimera to kick in with more features. Anyway, as I said, it seems as if the MBU have pinpointed the key points to what'll make it a hell of a lot better. Whether they do it right is another thing!

I agree, I am addicted to the tabbed browsing and URL google search! :)

Mozilla is my main browser for Mac OS X and my PC at work!

However, I wish they offer a browser only version for the Mac. :(

I agree. You can't download IE or Quicktime because they are 'built in'. What they never thought we'd trash them?

Geez

I agree that Mozilla is great, but unfortunately on a 400 MHz iMac the interface is rather slow. I'm impatiently waiting for a more feature-rich Chimera, which will eliminate the need for Mozilla... :D
Currently I'm using Chimera for normal surfing, and Omniweb 4.1b6 for stuff like downloading.

*tries to think of the last time he used IE on OS X....

err I can't remember. Although I do have permenant mental wounds from using it in the past ;). Seriously, the browser market on OS X is the best out of all platforms, I don't see why anyone would still want to use IE.

Some websites are only compatible with Aiieeee! I mean, IE. For example, my credit card company allows web access to IE or Netscape only. Even the OmniWeb feature to masquerade as IE doesn't work.

*sigh*

I find the exact same thing sometimes. Something on a site in OmniWeb will simply not work, and often not in Mozilla either, but then I try it in IE and it works. Sucks, but that's how it is. With OW, it's often with Javascript things.

Woah there buddy. Coming from Linux, I'd say Linux has a much bigger selection. Nothing, I mean nothing beats Galeon.

Galeon is *really* a nice mozilla container. I use it all the time on my linux box. But OmniWeb is nicer (although not as complete yet). And linux has no IE to compete with. ;)

Yeah, but I've used IE for Solaris. I'd rather use lynx. :)

Has anyone gotten Galleon to build in Fink? It's in the unstable list but I'm not able to use dselect so that means finding the right packages to make it work. So far, no beans.

That's simple... because it comes on the MacOS X disc... So if you have OS X then you automatically have IE.

...as for any updates, Apple has been distributing them via Software Update.

So why would you need to download it seperatly?

If you trashed them, then reinstall X onto another drive/partition and grab the Internet Explorer.app and move it back...

Or see if you can re-update it via Software Update... (maybe by deleting the receipt.)

Why do you all dislike IE? I know it is from M$, but cmon. You say it is buggy? It has not crashed in a whole year for me, and I use it for at least 2 hours a day. I am into web design, and I use heavy duty DHTML and stuff like that. It is the graphic designers browser.
