extending macbook wireless coverage

Hi!

I want to extend my macbook´s wireless connection to reach networks further away. I have read some on the internet and it seems that one solution is to buy an antenna from quickertek. However, this is quite expensive.

My question is, is it possible to build your own antenna (like for example cantenna) for a macbook? If so, how do I do it? are there any guides or such?

I don't see a reason for extending the wireless on a MacBook, the MacBook has the best wireless out of any computer designed by Apple.
