Hi!

I have a large USB external HDD. I want to use it with my MacBook, my old windows box (XP), several other computers at work (can't install software on them) and at my friend's, who is a Linux fanatic.

What's the best filesystem to use?

With HFS+ I could use it with my mac, my friend's Linux box (with hfsutils) and my own windows pc, if I install some software (like hfvexplorer).

With NTFS it would be usable with all target systems, but I would have to use macFUSE on my mac and captive on the linux box.

FAT32 is out of question because of the 2GB file size limit.

Any pros/cons I did not see?

What would you do/what do you do? Whats the easiest way?

There are a few options you could try. You can do the correct formtatting for each operating system and then download MacDrive which allows u to access and write to the oS X partition from XP/Vista, and then get Paragon NTFS which allows you to read and write to the XP/Vista partiton.
