External DVD Burner

I don't see why not. Both have firewire ports. Get a drive
from a reputable Mac vendor like OWC, and run PatchBurn
freeware to enable non-Apple drives.

Yes, as stated by 'albloom'.

Next, ... stating 'I am using the lastest version of OSX.' is a relative term and too vague. If your iMacs have MacOS X 10.4.6, 'Tiger' installed - state such. It helps those helping you.

For 'PatchBurn' information - go here.
The download web page, supporting 'Jaguar' - MacOS X 10.2.x, 'Panther' - MacOS X 10.3.x, and 'Tiger' - MacOS X 10.4.x, is here.

I just purchased a Plextor PX-740UF. I can read and burn CDs just fine. My OS is Tiger with all the updates via Software Update since installation. When I try to read a DVD I get an error message. Is DVD Player the problem? Do I need seperate Program? I am using Toast Titainum 5 with all updates for doing the CDs.

Need Help!! Thanks.

'albloom's post mentioned 'PatchBurn', and my post provided the links.

You cannot use an external DVD burner, by default - with MacOS X. You require the 'PatchBurn' driver.

Thanks alot. I just wish it was clearer in the apple information, but I guess that what forums are for!! I'll download Patchburn after work tonight and give it a try..

Thanks a bunch!!
