External Firewire DVDRW

Ok, I know this is kind of a simple question but I just want to check. I am going to be getting an external DVDRW drive for my G4 with OS 10.3. Am I able to use ANY firewire drive or does it have to say "compatable with Mac"?

I am guessing that I can just use any drive and use the ol' drag and drop method and not need any software but I just want to be sure before I go spend my boss's money.

It should. However if you ever had a hardware compatibility question then try Accelerate Your Macintosh's drive search lasso to see if any other world Mac user has used that drive. You can even add your own drive experience. The database is large if you use only use vague search parameters.

However if you are in the market for an external then consider getting one from OWC. They actually have great support and usually include cables along with their firewire drives.
