External hard drive locked.

Whilst installing Leopard - and becoming confused about privileges and users - I have managed to lock my LaCie hard drive and installing apps is also a problem now.
I have tried everything I know and am completely stuck.
You can see the current situation from the screenshot (which has been like this for hours) and I would appreciate any advice.

Can't you access it from another account?

This may be a sledgehammer to crack a nut but try FileXaminer. I think it's a free or shareware download.

i'm having this same problem
