I just got this External hard drive today and I know it is compatable with mac OS X.
Anyway it says "You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read. to continue with the disk inserted, click ignore.

I cant figure out how to get it to work, if anyone knows I would greatly apreciatte it.

Is it a new disk that hasn't been formatted yet? If so, you should try Disk Utility to format it. If not: What format is it supposed to be in? FAT32? HFS+?

When a hard disk drive, hdd, is purchased new, it is not formatted.

Use 'Disk Utility' ('/Applications/Utilities/' folder) to format the hdd - via the 'Erase' ('Tiger' MacOS X 10.4.x) [or 'ERASE' ('Panther' MacOS X 10.3.x)] tab's 'Volume Format:'s 'Mac OS Extended' or 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)' (the default) menu item.

Think (at least) twice before selecting either of the 'Volume Format:'s 'Mac OS Extended (Case sensitive)', ''Mac OS Extended (Case sensitive, journaled)', or 'UNIX File System' menu items.
