we can see an external harddrive in disk utilities but not on desktop it's Mounting harddrive S.M.A.R.T status is functioning and its a disarster.
 
Is this a new hard drive you're trying to use with a Mac for the first time, or a hard drive you've been using for a while that just isn't showing up anymore?
