External storage recommendations?

Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience with Western Digital 250GB storage drives? I need some extra storage, but it doesn't come cheap and I've already been stung with compatibility issues on a camcorder so would appreciate any positive feedback on 250GB storage devices. I'm not planning to carry it around, don't care what it looks like, but would like it to work with my iMac 500Mhz G3 running OSX 10.3.9. Thanks.
 
I wouldn't go with Western Digital or Maxtor for that matter. I've always preferred IBM / Hitachi or Seagate drives -- they're much more reliable.

I always buy the drive and enclosure separately so that I know what I'm getting on the inside is good and I get to choose the enclosure of my liking, usually a MacAlly enclosure.
