external USB hard drive acting strange

I have a 80 gig 2.5 in laptop drive that i put in a USB2.0 enclosure and formatted as MacOSX extended. Up until a couple of days ago, it would work fine, but it suddenly stopped showing up on my hard drive and in my finder. it is there under disk utility, and disk utility cant find anything wrong with it, and when i 'go to folder' /volumes it appears there but doesnt let me acess it. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there more advanced tools that i can used to diagnose/fix this problem? Thanks for all the help

It you can see it under "Disk Util" run the permession repair..... Data Rescue II would be a great tool for crashed HDD's...
