Extracting equations from trendline in Excel

In Excel, it is possible to create a trend line when given a set of data. This is done automatically by Excel, using either linear regression, or a polynomial fit. Which is all nice and good.

What I would like to do, is would it be possible to extract the information about the trend line, i.e. the slope and y-intercept for the linear regression, and the polynomials for the polynomial fit? Admittedly, it is a more complex question, and I haven't been able to find the answer.

Just in case anyone is ever stuck in the same position I'm in, here's how you do it. After you've added the trendline, you can format the trend line. In the options tab, just tick the box show equations, and it will show you the equations used to generate the trendline. Nifty.
