F11/"show desktop" feature stays clear anywhere from 2 to 7 seconds

Hello,

I've searched all over and couldn't find the answer, I can't possibly be the only one having this issue...

I'm on 10.4.2 on a 2.5Ghz G5, I noticed on this machine (just upgraded from Panther on G4), when I hit F11 to clear the screen, I usually only have 2 - 4 seconds to move things around the desktop before the windows come caving back in. Sometimes I have up to 7 seconds -- closer to what I'm used to in Panther, but that's rare. Right now, just with this one Safari window open and an iTunes palette, I hit F11 and get different durations the windows stay clear.

Is there a setting I can check to extend the duration? Any idea what's going on?

Thats weird. If I hit F11 it just stays like that until I press one of the Expose keys again.
