holy crap, I can't believe I forgot to mentions SIDETRACK!!!
here

it's only of use for your powerbook and ibook users, as it's a replacement driver for your trackpad. *NOT* a hack, but an actual driver.
allows you to assign an edge of the pad to allow you to scroll by dragging your finger, set the tap action to be a "left" click for contextual menus, assign corners to different actions (for me, they're assigned to go forward or back a song in itunes).
It's seriously the 1 thing I can't live without. but it's so transparent to my daily computing that I don't think about it. gotta check it out.

LockTight is also a handy app for us laptop users. just go here and look for the LockTight link. it activates the screensaver with a designated hotkey.

and Desktop Manager is the awesomest thing i have downloaded in a while. thanks for the tip.

I use Salling Clicker almost daily. It's not freeware, but Arboreal software makes a close equivalent called Romeo that is free.

they're basically software that allow you to remote control your mac via a bluetooth phone. there are plugins or modules that extend functionality into specific programs such as itunes, adium, proteus, iphoto, VLC, keynote, Finder, powerpoint, dvd player, etc. they also offer a custom scripting environment for creating your own actions/modules.

all based on applescript! so if you already know AS, then you're golden.

i used to use fugu, but after trying cyberduck i gave it the ol' heave-ho. it's a free sftp client offering a nice bookmark interface and it suits my needs very well.
