FCP eight-point garbage matte won't drag

I remember in earlier versions of FCP I could grab the individual points, rather than typing in their new locations, and place them within the image where I wanted them. I am running FCP 5.1.1 and I can't seem to do this? I can set them by clicking on the cross hair but from there, cannot drag them to their desired location. Do you know why? Am I just dreaming this?
