FCP4 memory issue

I have recently started running Final Cut Pro 4 on a G5, with two seperate harddisks of 250Gb each, 2Ghz processor and 2Gb of Ram. I have captured about five hours of footage onto the start-up disk and edited about 45mins onto a sequence. Suddenly, the sequence will not launch as there is an error - out of memory.

Should I be capturing footage to the second Harddisk, or is there something more basic and fundamental I am doing wrong??? There is plenty of storage space on both harddisks, and the Ram should be sufficient - I thought OSX applied as much memory as needed to an application??

Please help me someone...

Have you told FCP to use both Hard Disks as Scratch Disks?

This is enabled in the Preferences.

Hope it helps
