Just so you know, I'm asking this for a good friend of mine who can't access the internet at the present time so I thought I'd do what I could to find an answer for her.
Here's what she told me ...
She was working in Adobe Bridge and wanted to delete a certain favorites folder. So she selected it and went under File >> Delete. However, that deleted absolutely everything in the list, including her desktop which she has not been able to retrieve. she said it was almost like she threw her whole computer in the trash and it would not let her retrieve it. She did also say that she tried running disk permissions but that didn't help.
At the time, she was operating system 10.4.8 and using CS2.
Any ideas on what actually happened?
