Files-Now You See 'Em Now You Don't

I'm using OSX 10.4.11 on an iMac G5. I imported some pictures into iPhoto. When I'm in iPhoto, I can see the pictures, but when I go to the iPhoto library and drill down to the place the file should be, it's not there. The folder is empty when I get info. Any ideas about what's going on and more importantly, how to fix it?

Thanks.

Have you tried dragging the pictures out of iPhoto's window and dropping them into another directory? You should be able to salvage them that way.

Yes. But, I should be able to "see" the files in the folder. It's a work around but I'd like to get the problem fixed as I do a lot of work in Photoshop and it adds an extra step that should be unnecessary and can can add up when your working with multiple images. Both from a time stand point and a memory stand point.

Thanks for the idea.

I believe that in the newer versions of iPhoto you can set it to where it does not import the picture to the iPhoto library, but instead makes a alias type of a link to the source picture. I don't know if this tidbit might help you find your "originals" or not, but maybe.
