Final Cut 4.5 +Tiger

Help! I know I am a little late on the issue, but I just installed Tiger 10.4.7 on my computer and I was running Final Cut Pro 4.5, now I can't get my computer to recognize my camera through the firewire port using a DV cable! Sometimes it will pop up VTR okay for 3 seconds, and go to no communication. It has worked before, I read the article on re-installing Quicktime 7 that Apple sent me, and I have made all the software updates possible to today.I have deleted my preferences in Final Cut and have even reinstalled FCP accidently trying to solve this bug and deleting old Quicktime files. I'm trying not to Panic, and I'm hoping that the solution isn't to upgrade to Final Cut 5 because I just made this purchase last June!
 
Well I got it to work, now I just have to keep the VTR okay for more than 3 seconds. The computer recognizes the device, but then it goes offline. Does anyone know if purchasing quicktime 7 pro is the antidote?
