Final Cut express filter question

I have FCE HD and have imported a video clip that has a glare from overhead flourescent lights on a whiteboard behind the subject. It is the only thing i can't seem to correct, mostly i believe since i am a newbie to video editing. Is there a filter for glare/highlight correction or a tutorial somewhere?

Thanks for any help

You could probably use one of the color correction filters to bring down just the highs... that would probably work.

... Actually, I just went into FCP, and I noticed... under "Color Correction," there's a filter called "Desaturate Highlights"... how does that work? Fiddle with it and see.

Thas the one i have been tinkering with, seems logical choice but thought i would check if anyone has a simple way. I can't find tutorials to learn how to use this program anywhere and the book i bought is inadequate.

Thanks!! :D

.... oh... heh. I just realized.... when you say "glare" you mean a horrible whiteness, right? if you didn't adjust the exposure for the camera, it is quite possible that the area to which you refer is completely out of the range for the camera's color chip(s). In other words, that area of the image is "blown out." It is completely white, and there is no color information there besides white. If so, there's no color information to "bring out." So, you might be up a river without a creek... or something. You know what I mean.

btw, to see for sure just what is "out of range," go to the "View" menu, choose "Range Check," then "Excess Luma." It should outline (or give you zebra stripes- I forget) on whatever is blown out.

Its actually just a reflection from overhead lights on a whieboard. Am i still ou of luck? I can bring it down so you can't see it but then everything else is way too dark.

Heh... this is going to sound funny, but... could I just see a still frame of what you're working with?
