Final Cut Express will not launch

It used to pop up and say that my AGP card was non-existent, but I would hit esc and Final Cut would open with no issues. Now, a several weeks later, it won't launch at all. Says that the program quit unexpectedly and every time I click relaunch it repeats that same process. I have a video due by March 7! So I need help. Please tell me what to do to fix this problem!

It may be a corrupt preference file. Try moving the "com.apple.FinalCutExpress.plist" file from /Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences to your Desktop and see if Final Cut Express will launch (this will reset any preferences you've set for the application, which is why we're moving it to the Desktop instead of deleting it).

If that doesn't work, put the file back in place and we can try a different angle.

OK...
the actual file name that I found is "com.apple.RegFinalCutExpress.plist"
does this make a difference?
I moved it to the desktop and problem still occurred.

Ahh!

There should be one named exactly what I specified before... I think the one you referenced is some sort of registration preference or something.

If you open Console.app (located in /Applications/Utilities) and parse through the logs for entries relating to Final Cut Express, do you find anything that could point to the problem? You can copy-and-paste the relevant lines here if you would like us to look through them.

OK. I just clicked and dragged the ones that had anything to do with Final Cut.

Did you, at some point, migrate from a PowerPC Mac (G3, G4, G5, etc.) to an Intel-based Mac (MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, etc.)?

Wellllll...
I accidently partitioned 5GB of my hard drive for a PC i think..
Every time I start up my computer there's a hard drive on the desktop labeled BOOTCAMP.

I'm not sure the presence of a Boot Camp partition would cause the error you're seeing, unless somehow the partitioning procedure introduced a level of corruption on your Mac OS X boot volume.

If you reinstall Final Cut Express from the original DVD, do the problems persist?
