Final Cut Express

I installed Final Cut Express on my mac, it installs cleanly, but when i run it, it gives me an error that the program has unexpectedly quit.... i need to edit some videos on my mac, and iMovie is just too slow. I dont want to spend more money on iMovie4 or FCE2 or anything like that right now.... can i get FCE1 to run correctly?

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head (and dont get me wrong, Im not mac expert) is that it wants you to have Panther (10.3) and you may be running something else like me?
