Find in Open/Save Dialog boxes

The find in open/save dialog boxes seems to return unexpected results. Say I have two folders one called "Down under" and the other called "Down under 2". If I ask it to find "down" it only returns the file "Down under 2" and other files whose content may have the word "down" in them. The folder "Down under 2" only has jpegs in it. None have "Down" in the file name.

Spotlight from the menubar finds both folders. Easyfind finds both folders.

So what gives?

Do you have a cloned backup connected? Having this will cause what you see. To fix a problem in Spotlight like this is to go to System Preferences->Spotlight and click on the Privacy tab. In there click on the + button and add that backup volume to stop Spotlight of listing two results of the same folder(s)/File(s).

Actually what you suggest should result in to many results not in missing results. I tried your suggestion anyway and still not all folders with "down" in their name show up.

OK. Then lets play with some old time files in throwing away preferences. Go to the folder /YourHardDrive/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ and throw away the files com.apple.finder.plist , com.apple.desktop.plist. Then Restart.

Hopefully this will help.

Well when you go to save something from a program, do a Save-As and when the save pop-up comes up click on the arrow button to show a Finder box to where to save the file.
