OK. I hope this isn't totally redundant but I found a cool trick for keeping your finder views the way you like 'em. I was getting frustrated because I would put my finder windows into column view, close the window and open it again to find that it was in icon view. But if I hold down the CMD (open Apple) while clicking on the view I like, it stays that way!
