Fink and Mozilla

Koelling

I Think Different
Has anyone ever had troubles with something they installed via fink not working in pure darwin but then in XWindows rootless over OS X it works fine?

I'm sure I haven't isolated the problem yet because sometimes it works and sometimes not but when I'm logged in as >console and I try to build mozilla I get this error:
kCGErrorFailure : CGSNewConnection cannot connect to server

and this is in the stage of building when it says "Setting up mozilla" so it seems like it's trying to find the quartz server and not finding it (because I'm in XWindows.)

If I build it while in Aqua it works fine.

Yeah, problems happen...

It's a little bit like the separation of state and church.

While building, I stick with fink mozilla in XFree and Aqua in OS X.

Cheers...

but it seems like it wont build at all in XFree. I figured that I could build it in Xfree and use it in XFree but it will only build in Aqua and run in aqua (through XFree rootless of course)

Also the version of mplayer that I got off version tracker that was packaged with a cocoa gui has the same error message when I try to run 'mplayer noir.mov' in Xfree if that helps anyone.

What happens when you run XFree86 full screen ?

I'm using Mozilla 1.0rc3-1, which installed when I updated evolution to 1.0.5-1 and it works very well.

Have you tried mplayer with fink. I installed mplayer 0.90pre4-1.

Just for fun, I also installed VideoLan in OS X from here:

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download.html

Latest MacOS X package (0.4.1) and it works quite well in my machine (G4 Desktop 867 Mhz)

For more info you can read here:

Cheers...

Yeah it does work in full screen, at least right now. Sometimes it works in Aqualess too so I'm going to try to figure out if it is working there.
