Firewall Access

In SYSTEM PREFERENCES => SECURITY => FIREWALL I have selected "Set access for specific services and applications".

In the selection list I have set "Allow incoming connections" for iChatAgent.app, iChat.app, and Xquartz.app (among others).

Nonetheless, about every third or fourth boot I get a pop-up asking for permission for Xquartz.app to allow incoming connections, requiring authentication. And once in every 8 or 10 starts I get the same pop-up for iChat or iChatAgent.

Suggestions to make it stop doing this? Or should I just give up and select "Allow all incoming connections"?

People have been complaining that Leopard's firewall is broken. Set it to allow all incoming messages, then download WaterRoof and use this freeware firewall that will let you configure the underlining BSD firewall much more specifically. Leopard's firewall is a general noobs basic firewall and it's time to make you an expert .

Plus keep Apple's document "Well Known" TCP and UDP ports used by Apple software products bookmark for reference.

Also using a NAT router after your ISP modem will protect you pretty good too.
