FireWire and OSX?

How do you get firewire to work in OSX? I'm running Final Cut Pro and I cant get it to see firewire under Classic.

please Help.

I used macosx public beta On my G4 45O Mhz MP; firewire works regularly WITHOUT any addtional instllation with my LACIE 20 GIGA external disk.
