FireWire Drive does not mount.

I have a new LaCie 160Gig Porsche FireWire drive.
I have an e-mac running on OS X 10.3.7

When I plug the drive into my mac, my mac doesn't recognize it.
It works fine on other macs.

I have turned everything off and on a few times, tried it in 15 different sequences, nothing seems to be working.

Any idea what to do?

Does system profiler show anything under 'firewire'?
What file system/s is it formatted with?
Any reason not to update to 10.3.9?
Have you repaired permissions (of startup disk) with disk utikity?
