firewire external drive not booting anymore

i have an older g4 tower with a 10G HD and an external 160G. i cloned my OS from the tower and placed everything on the external. after recently loading i life05 my external would not boot anymore. upon running disk utility i got "keys out of order" errors. i researched this forum and found that disk warrior was recommended for this error. i ran disk warrior and it could create new volume but it could not replace the broken one because of mac os errors or something. the safe boot works but the external won't.

any ideas?

I am an user of an iBook, and ihave too an external HDD. I think you need to download an Firmware update for your extrernal drive (e.g. LaCie,...). I had the same Problem after i updated the Operating system. So maybe it is a related case :)
