Hi,

I have a powermac g4 which I have been having problems with. The harddrive still has data on it but cannot find the OS which was OSX. So now i just want to transfer the data to my laptop for the time being using the firewire target disk mode. I hookup the firewire between the two, start it up, press T and get the firewire icon on the desktop monitor but the harddrive doesnt show up on the powerbook desktop.

ANY IDEAS???

Thanks

With it connected, open up Disk Utility (Applications-->Utilities) and see if it shows up there but is not mounted. If it does, click "Repair Disk" and see if it then shows up on the desktop.

If it doesn't show up in Disk Utility, you should try to run Disk Utility off of the CDs first.

Would I be using the firewire connection with techtool or just trying to start the computer regularly??
