Firmware update question?

PowermacG4_450

OS X Jaguar
ive upgraded firmware for a G4, AGP graphics, under os 9... once before...

I now have a second drive with OS 10.1.3 on it..

do I need to upgrade firmware again?

the several firmware updates ive downloaded from apples site are classic apps, so... im confused.

do i need to wait for a osx specific firmware update? Is there such a beast?

thanks.

Firmware is an OS independent feature. It has to do with the G4s ROM and remains unchanged (hopefully) until you update it again.

so, if I read this right, im good to go (even though I've added a second HD and second OS to the system? )?

thanks. ;)

Yes, you're fine.

"Firmware" is basically software that is hard-wired into the hardware itself. So when you update the firmware, the old version is gone, unless you can find an updater that downgrades.

So what this means is that you only have to install a firmware update once. Ever.
