I am running os x. I would like to rip my cd collection using flac and also have a player supporting flac. The only program on the flac site supporting both these functions was Roxio Toast Titanium which aside from costing $80 has many features I don't need. Do I just download separate rip and player programs or is there a program that does both? I am new to mac.

Why don't you just use iTunes and Apple Lossless?

There is also a program called Max that will convert to Ogg Vorbis and FLAC (as well as a bunch of other audio formats) if I'm not mistaken. You can find it here:

Thank you. I looked at the Max site and found it helpful. Do you have any idea if the other formats have any advantage over Apple lossless in quality of playback or ease of use?
