Folder erased!

Hyo all,

This morning my dad erased an entire folder (with ±2000 graphics) on his HD ... He has a G4/400, and luckily he had the common sense not to touch his Mac after it happened. So I'm hoping I can restore most of the files ...

Can anyone help me in what I should do best? The faster the better :)

Greetz,

You need some data recovery program. If I recall correctly there's Norton Utilities and also Disk Warrior, with Disk Warrior being a safer solution because it doesn't overwrite your data but writes recovered data into free HD space.

Also its important not to boot from the HD that you want to recover.

Good luck,
Samuel

I think it depend on whether or not your dad is running OS X or earlier versions.
Recovery by Norton is spotty at best and in my experience you cannont retrieve a folder, but you have to retrieve the files themselves. That would be a lot of work if you have 2000 photos.

I have never tried retrieving files from an OS X drive.
