We just downloaded the lastest software update for OSX 10.4.11, and when we restarted, our folder icons do not show up. The folders and folder names are still there, but the icons are not visible. How do we fix this?

Had you modified your Mac with a Theme and changed the default icon set? Have you tried Repairing Permissions using Disc Utility in:
A shortcut to launch the Utilities Folder from Finder is to press Command + U.
MacintoshHD ~> Applications ~> Utilities ~> Disc Utility

Try re-launching Finder: hold Opt key as you click on the Finder icon in the Dock and choose "Relaunch" from the pop-up menu.
